There is a documentary out there (you can find it on Youtube and other streaming services) called “A Great Day in Harlem” . Watch the ENTIRE video (only 1 hr) and write a paper on that. A lot of the famous figures we talk about in this class are in there plus quite a few we did not. Tell me what you recognized, what you learned, what you liked, what surprised you etc…. The research part of the assignment: Pick something about the program that you can do a little research on. This might be an artist, the genre, maybe an instrument played, or a featured composer. I highly recommend The Oxford Music Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians. If you use a different internet source, make sure it has some legitimacy (no “Joe Bob’s Jazz Page”) and make sure you cite it correctly. At least two in text citations, in each paper, from at least two different sources (MLA Style) backed up with “Works Cited” page entries.
