As you noted in the Library Tutorial, there is a wealth of information available in the traditional formats of books, journals, and newspapers. UMUC’s library subscribes to many databases that contain such resources, which are available in electronic format. For this assignment, you will do a search of UMUC’s databases for three articles in scholarly (peer-reviewed) journals on your chosen topic. In addition to the library tutorial you completed as the first graded assignment, you should review Research Skills Tutorial, Module 6: Finding Articles ().
Samples of an annotated bibliography done in Chicago/Turabian style is attached and the link provided below:
A good place to start your search is the UMUC Library’s Guide to History Resources,. Click the U.S. History tab along the upper part of the screen. You will find a list of databases available to you from the library for research. As you need to find scholarly articles from peer-reviewed journals, the two best databases in the Most Recommended Resources list are JSTOR and Academic Search Complete.  Google Scholar and other official academic sources may also be used.
